This specimen consists of two vugs full of well formed light brown lustrous vesuvianite crystals on amphibole matrix. Some bigger amphibole crystals can be seen on its reverse. A classic specimen from its type locality, named after the famous Mt. Vesuvius which erupted in 79 AD, burying Pompeii. This alpine locality produces the finest and most highly sought after examples of vesuvianite
