The gemmy root-beer brown crystal on this specimen stands out atop an intergrown mass of vesuvianite with two other, bigger well formed, undamaged crystals nearby. A classic specimen from its type locality, named after the famous Mt. Vesuvius which erupted in 79 AD, burying Pompeii. These alpine Italian beauties are among the finest and most highly sought after examples of the species!
