The high grade silver mineralization from the Trout Lake Mine, also known as Lorrain Trout Lake Mine, in South Lorrain Township, is similar but different to the ores on Cobalt, just a few miles away. The Trout Lake mine veins have an interesting creamy-flow appearance to them with fine grained dolomite and long stringy masses of silver. Here is a very good example, sawn on one side and rough on the other to best show the mineralogical textures! The Trout Lake Mine started in 1923 and was associated with the, now, ghost town of Silver Center.
