An unusual rhodochrosite specimen from a part of the world that produced exceptional rhodochrosite. This piece is a large, thick slice that is oval in shape. Polished one side, sawn but not polished on the other side. It has a black rind, presumably manganese oxide-rich. Looks more like a septarian nodule formation than the stalactitic forms that we usually see from Argentina! Beautiful and unique! R
