This locality in Brazil is famous for the epitaxial growth of rutile on hematite and how it becomes locked in overgrowths of quartz crystals. The fragile golden rutile crystals form first and later the quartz encapsulates them over time. Here our example shows some free standing rutile outside of the clear quartz matrix as well as encapsulated within it. interesting paragenesis!
