This pyrite concretion shows a combination of crystallized and nodular pyrite. The crystals are simple cubes arranged in a tight cluster on top of the more nodular concretion. A little of the shale remains intact for geological context. The Port au Port Peninsula, on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland has become a prolific producer of mineral specimens, in recent years. One of the most interesting is the occurrence of pyrite nodules and crystals in the shales of West Bay, Tea Cove, Lead Cove, etc.
