The Port au Port Peninsula, on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland has become a prolific producer of mineral specimens, in recent years. One of the most interesting is the occurrence of pyrite nodules and crystals in the shales of West Bay, Tea Cove, Lead Cove, etc. This specimen is a combination of an ovoid pyrite concretion topped with a cluster of fairly sharp cubes of pyrite, from West Bay. Naturally exposed pyrite with a little of the shale attached and a natural patina. Looks great!
