A nice cabinet specimen showing an interesting overgrowth of calcite over previously formed, golden crystals resulting in these short hexagonal prisms covering just the tips. The main crystal is doubly terminated and perched nicely at the very top of the specimen. There's a sprinkling of pyrite micros throughout the piece as well. Very cool!
The quarry is part of the Beekmantown Formation that shows up at several locations, From Saratoga Springs NY, through Herkimer NY, St-Clothilde Quebec, St-Eustache Quebec to Greely Ontario.
