The orange chabazite (aka Acadialite) from Nova Scotia has long been a classic in mineral collections. The crystals are sharp, the colour splendent and an wonderful addition to any cabinet. Recently, there has been a revival of collecting high quality mineral specimens in Nova Scotia. Here are some very nice chabazite specimens to add some colour to your collection.

  • At first glance, one would think that the crystals on this specimen are gmelinite but, in fact, it is just the equal interpenetrating twinning coupled with the bevelled faces that make it lokk that way. These are interesting, well formed, undamaged chabazite crystals with a very light pink colour and almost colourless in some parts of th ecrystals. Interesting!

  • A number of very light beige to colourless, very charp rhombohedra of chabazite are scattered in two openings in the flat plate of siliceous sinter. As is usual for chabazite, all of the crystals are penetration twins. The matrix is siliceous sinter and roughly formed porous variety of quartz.

  • A cluster of chabazite crystals with a habit a little fifferent than normal. At first the crystals look like gmelinite but that is because the crystals are not simple rhombohedra but a combination of positive and negative rhombohedra. As well, the crystals are all penetration twins. Well mounted on an acrylic base. Nice!

  • Isn't this nice? It is a cavity in siliceous sinter, lined with pure white quartz crystals, associated with some slightly, off-white chabazite crystals. The chabazite crystals are beveled rhombohedra and, as chabazite always seems to be, all of the crystals are interpenetration twins. Nice!

  • This is a two-sides specimen. One side shows a cavity lined with slightly amethystine, sintery, quartz crystals with a couple of almost colourless, sharp chabazite crystals.
