Great silver specimens are getting more difficult to come by in the Cobalt Camp. I am constantly on the look-out for nice specimens and I frequent the area several times a year in search f them. Here are some more pieces that I've managed to locate!

I've arranged the photography lights to reflect off of the shiny silver in the saw cut so that you can see the texture. Nicely sliced. Unusual location. High Grade!

  • The other sawn side of #22482. Very high grade silver mineralization showing dendritic silver associated with heavy arsenide mineralization in carbonate vein matrix. Some of the silver is in place of the original crystallization and some has been re-mobilized out of the arsenides and replaced with other arsenides. Sawn on one side, rough on the other. Rich, instructive mineralization from the Cobalt silver mining camp. Looks great!

  • The top of this piece is a calcite vein, richly laced with native silver that has a coating of arsenide minerals. Sorry, don't know which ones! The dendritic structure is nice and this would be a welcome silver vein in any silver mine!

  • A thick, calcite vein cuts across the top of this matrix. The calcite vein is thoroughly laced with native silver that has a thick coating of cobalt arsenides. Very representative of high grade Castle Mine ores.

  • A chunk of arsenide mineralization that is laced through with native silver. The piece is sawn on one side to reveal the mineralogical texture which makes the silver shiny and easy to see. The backside is rough. Nice!

  • This specimen shows a matrix of Nipissing diabase with a calcite vein cutting across the top of it. The carbonate vein is well mineralized with arsenide-coated native silver. Nice example of a silver vein!
