El Indio Mine, Coquimbo, Chille, Rodalquilarite, Alunite, Walfordite, etc.
The El Indio Mine is a series of epithermal, copper and precious metals orebodies in the Andes mountains east of La Serena, Chile. It was a gold and copper mine with a high level of tellurium in some areas. Well known geologist, Phillip Walford collected these specimens and has asked me to distribute specimens into the mineral community. Here are a number of fine examples.

- There are quite a few balls of bladed, green rodalquilarite crystals in this alunite crystal-lined vug in dacite. Some of the rodalquilarite balls are abraded but many are pristine, crystals speckled with small white spheres of mansfieldite. There are also lots of mansfieldite balls scattered over the alunite crystals. Excellent example!

- This is interesting. The vug on the top of this brecciated matrix is lined with alunite crystals, sopme just light beige while others are strongly zoned with an outer, presumably iron-rich, alunite zone. In the vug, similarly coloured clusters of jarosite crystals largely cover some of the alunite crystals. Interesting!
