Mont Saint-Hilaire, Steacyite

Here are a batch of "old steacyites" meaning, collected in the 1970's at Mont Saint-Hilaire. All of these specimens have excellent crystals on them! I have taken only one picture of one specimen (#21747) to show you what the matrix looks like. It is very similar for all, thus my reluctance to photograph each specimen! The matrices are all, essentially, white microcline and analcime, black and brown aegirine plus red-brown eudialyte group mineral. It is the small crystals of steacyite, associated with epididymite, analcime, aegirine, etc, that you really want to look at. I have described the size of each matrix and an estimate of the number of crystals in each individual description. These specimens are only very, very, VERY slightly radioactive, if at all.

  • Here is a picture of what the matrix looks like for pretty-well all of the steacyite specimens. The prominent minerals are: white-analcime, microcline and albite; black and brown -aegirine and; brown-orange - eudialye group, The vugs are usually in the analcime-microcline but sometimes in finely crystallized aegirine. This is not a specimen for sale but a picture to illustrate what the matrix looks like for pretty-well all of these steacyite specimens from MSH!
