  • This specimen is a plate of simple rhombohedra of siderite. Siderite is usually the less interesting mineral and a substrate for the rarer minerals at Rapid Creek. The larger, sharp and fairly lustrous crystals on this specimen make it the main mineral of interest.

  • The top of this plate is covered with fluorapatite crystals, some larger , up to 4mm or so and many are tiny. The larger crystals seem to be sort of curved habit of an older generation while the smaller crystals are sharp hexagonal prisms of a newer growth. A slight mauve tinge to the bigger crystals.
