The mines at Tsumeb have been the source of many of the finest azurite specimens produced anywhere. Lustrous, well formed and often partially altered to malachite. Here are some smaller, excellent, reasonable examples!

  • This fragment of mostly massive azurite with zones of a copper sulphide that I'll say is chalcocite, has a vug in the top of it lined with sharp, deep-blue crystals of azurite, speckled with small hemispheres of green malachite. Tsumeb is/was amazing!

  • This specimen is a plate of chalcocite that has a thick covering of well formed deep blue azurite crystals. The crystals are thick, tabular crystals with really no associated minerals except for traces of some light green minerals. Impressive piece!
