The top and part of the bottom, in several places, of this fragment of diabase are slathered with leaves of native silver. The leaves are part of what once was a continuous leaves that were seams in the diabase that were ripped apart when cracked open. The Nipissing Diabase Sill is generally regarded as being related to the genesis of the Cobalt silver veins. Silver veins are always in close proximity to the Diabase sill but we don't often find it IN the diabase. Here is an excellent example of silver in Nipissing Diabase.
