The top of this fragment of diabase is richly covered with leaves of native silver. The leaves are part of what once was a continuous leaf that was a seam in the diabase that was ripped apart when cracked open. The Nipissing Diabase Sill is generally regarded as being related to the genesis of the Cobalt silver veins. Silver veins are always in close proximity to the Diabase sill but we don't often find it IN the diabase. Here is a very good example of silver in Nipissing Diabase.
