Sursassite, Woodstock Iron and Manganese Mine, Carleton County, New Brunswick

These specimens are all vein sections showing rich, bronzy-brown crystals of sursassite, a manganese-aluminum silicate sharing vein fillings with quartz and other managanese and iron minerals. From an old museum cache. Extra postage will probably be required with these, since they are larger and heavier than most specimens. Rich!

  • This specimen is a section of a quartz vein consisting of, mostly, iron and manganese-rich rock and quartz. Richly interspersed in the quartz, at the contact with the rock are rich sprays of red-golden sursassite crystals. The crystals are mostly in radiating sprays and groups of interlocking sprays. Nice specimen of a fairly rare mineral from an unusual Canadian occurrence.
