South Ontario Limestone Quarries, Galena

One of the lesser known minerals that occur in the limestone quarries west of Toronto is galena. Usually it is in small crystals or microcrystals. Recently some larger crystals have been found and here are some nice examples.

  • This is a weird one! It is a distorted crystal that looks fairly normal from the front but on the back is corroded or contacted by a mineral that is no longer there. There are some nice marcasites, though. Different.
