David K. Joyce Minerals

Grenville, Miner's Bay, Ontario

The Miner's Bay Locality is a place where superb Tremolite crystals have been collected. Not much has been forthcoming in recent years but I was fortunate to tap into a cache of crystals collected years ago. I originally had these crystals labelled as actinolite, thinking they were on the iron-rich end of the actinolite-tremolite series. I have since learned that although they can be 50/50 actinolite/tremolite, they are most often tremolite.

  • A slender, lustrous, dark green crystal of actinolite with a nice termination. The crystal seems to be slightly offset which gives it a curved appearance. Nice!
