Brookite, Magnet Cove, Hot Spring County, Arkansas, USA

This is a very famous locality for well formed brookite crystals and other rare minerals where it and the other rare minerals occurr as a result of contact metamorphism. Brookite is composed of titanium and oxygen and is, in fact, a polymorph of rutile and anatase. That is, its chemical composition of the three minerals is exactly the same but the molecular structures and, thus, the crystals that they forms into are different from each other. Here are some very good examples of this relatively rare mineral.
