Yukon Phosphates, Lazulite, Rapid Creek, Yukon Territory

Rapid Creek produces some of the best lazulite specimens in the world. People knew about Lazulite before but the discovery of lazulite at Rapid Creek, redefined the species. The deposits at Rapid Creek are hydrothermal deposits in quarz veins in iron rich shales. This geological environment has proven to be the source of many fine mineral specimens. Here are some world-class specimens.

  • A very large specimen that is just covered with several species in an interesting combination. It starts with the rich blue lazulite crystals that take up a fair bit of the top side of the specimen. Covering many of the tips of the lazulite crystals are beautiful little micro augelite crysals. The rest of the top of the plate is taken up by siderite and quartz crystals. The entire bottom of the piece is a mix of augelite, siderite and quartz crystals. A spectacular, large specimen!
