Calcite, Inverhuron, Bruce Co., Ontario

When the waters of Lake Huron are low, five feet or so low as they seem to do every 10 or 20 years, a layer of limedtone that contains wonderful calcite crystals is exposed. Other times it is pretty well impossible to collect these wonderful crystals that show many scalenohedral and rhombohedral forms plus interesting hoppered faces. Really nice specimens! These specimens were expertly collected and prepared by Liz and John Fodi, years ago.
