Microminerals, Eifel District, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

The volcanic rocks of the Eifel district have undergone alteration that has resulted in famous and very interesting mineralogy. The unusual crystals of hauyne, fluorapatite, titanite and magnetite are often in speces and cavities between interlocking sanidine crystals. As well, man y of the cavities contain bubbly glass and sometimes the crystals are draped in very thin glass shrouds.
I have photographed the crystals of many specimens and here they are for your consideration. I have NOT photographed each whole specimen since, for the most part, they are just chunks of altered volcanics with not much to see. The micro crystals are VERY interesting, though!
