Pyromorphite, Old Luganure Mine, Co., Wicklow, Ireland

The Old Luganure mine, near Glendasan produces some nice small, colourful, pyromorphite crystals. The crystals occur in various shades of green and yellow and occur in open spaces in quartz veins. The open spaces can be crystal-lined vugs or cavities remaining from long-dissolved sulphide crystals. Sometimes the pyromorphite crystals occur with manganese oxides such as coronadite and romancheite. A unique occurrence!
