Morocco, Sidi Ayed, Fes-Boulemane, Azurite, Malachite

Sidi Ayed is an old abandoned mining area that was developed by French mining companies in Morocco. The area is desolate but beautiful and there are many abandoned buildings showing the sites where the ore was extracted and processd, as well as where people lived. To see pictures of Sidi Ayed, go to the Articles section of this website and have a look at article on collecting in Morocco. I was in Sidi Ayed during November of 2012 and collected these specimens. We don't have secondary minerals like this in Canada so it was a real treat for me!
